During Tori Kelly‘s recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday (Oct. 10), the “missin’ u” singer reflected on her “crazy year.”
Kelly, 30, recalled her hospitalization this past July where she was being treated for blood clots.
“You were in the hospital this past summer, you scared us, girl,” said Hudson, 42.
“I actually ended up collapsing one night and they found out that I had blood clots. It was really crazy and scary,” explained the Hiding Place singer. “My family was definitely there for me. I had a peace throughout most of it, but I was just kinda confused and wondering what was going on. I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy.”
She reassured fans that her condition is now “manageable” and though doctors are still monitoring it, she’s “back to singing and back to doing my thing.” Adding, “I feel really good, I’m really grateful.”
When asked by the EGOT winner why she chose to still release her tori EP the week of her medical scare, Kelly revealed her decision came down to her fans. “I really wanna still give my fans the opportunity to just listen to this music because it also just represents — this music is so happy and fun and I wanted them to be able to just have that,” she explained.
The Grammy winner later teased that tori was only the beginning of what’s to come from this next era of her career and wrapped up a multi-city tour at the end of September.
