Will the Barbz and the Swifties be teaming up soon? If Nicki Minaj has her way, the pop collaboration may happen in the future. On social media, the Pink Friday rapper shared praise for Taylor Swift and her willingness to work with the chart-topping singer after disputing claims of beef regarding record sales.
“The SAG QUEEN TAYLOR DESERVES!!!! PERIOD!!!!!,” wrote the Queens, New York representative Wednesday (Dec. 20) on X. “She takes months & years off then comes back with great music & fans who’ll never leave her!!!! The END!!!!!!! I was simply discussing vinyls w/the barbz due to questions they had for me…”
She continued to explain, “We broke the record in vinyl sales for any female rap album in history. That means that retailers had no way of knowing that the vinyls would be in such high demand. Either way, now they do! That’s a marvelous thing! Taylor & her fans have put in the work. Now it’s our turn.”
According to Marie Claire, the X posts come after an Instagram Live broadcast where Minaj clarified her support of Taylor Swift.
“This is a CELEBRATION!!!!! I’m about to thank each & every artist on this album. But!!!! The point is that we have something to aspire to as we watch the SAG QUEEN Taylor & the swifties & Republic Records. Any more questions on this?,” closed the “Did It On Em” rapper.
Leaving the option for follow-ups, one fan chose to inquire about the potential for the two record-breaking artists to team up.
“In a heartbeat,” answered Nicki Minaj about recording music with Taylor Swift.
Nicki Minaj is currently celebrating her third No. 1 album Pink Friday 2. Released earlier this month on the Queen rapper’s 41st birthday, the project features J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Tate Kobang, Drake, Lourdiz, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, 50 Cent, Monica, and Keyshia Cole.
Beyond Hip-Hop, the album landed the Grammy-nominated artist her first No. 1 record on the gospel music charts for the song “Blessing” featuring Cobbs Leonard.
