Montgomery, a host on Revolt’s Monuments to Me podcast, took to X/Twitter to announce her departure on Monday (Nov. 20). She asserted that she couldn’t renew her contract with Diddy attached in any way.

“FYI: I won’t be signing on to do the 3rd season of @revolttv’s Monuments To Me podcast. I am a [sexual assault] survivor & I cannot be a part of a show that’s supposed to uplift black women while @Diddy leads the company. Believe Black women,” she typed.

The award-winning journalist followed up with a series of xweets explaining her decision. Dawn admitted that the decision wasn’t difficult, but was necessary. She then shifted her focus to Revolt’s leadership and their lack of commentary regarding Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy.

“I am grateful for how I was able to contribute to this show & work with w/my cohost Akilah! This was a wonderful opportunity brought to me by our producer, Darius, who saw that I needed to share more of my story & connect with w/the show’s audience. This isn’t a hard decision, and I’m okay,” she added. “One thing I’ve done throughout my professional career(s) is be mindful of my work ethic and where I place my energy & time. I also feel like Revolt’s leadership not speaking on this says a lot and even though this podcast experience blessed me… I’m done.”

Dawn Montgomery’s Monuments To Me podcast was dedicated to Black women and uplifting their voices and experiences. Montgomery’s decision shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the official description for the podcast detailed the show’s mission to “celebrates every aspect of black women in a world that tries to ignore or destroy them.”

“This protected place features black women and ONLY black women diving into the conversations that matter. Akilah and Tyi lead an endless range of discussions that will move you from laughter to tears and inspire you toward the best version of self, but trust, they stay unapologetically centered on black women. This ain’t your everyday podcast because it ain’t every day that a podcast normalizes praising, celebrating, and building monuments to black women.”
