While attempting to address the court after Ohio serial killer Michael Madison was sentenced to death, Van Terry, father of 18-year-old Shirellda Terry who was brutally murdered by Madison, stopped mid-sentence and lunged at Madison, attempting to grab his face.
“He looked at me and he smiled and I felt that was so disrespectful,” Terry told a reporter for Fox 8 News in Cleveland.
The judged pressed a panic button after the attack occurred and guards rushed in to hold Terry back so that he could not reach Madison. Family members can be heard shouting and Terry was escorted out of the courtroom.
According to The Root, Madison was also found guilty of the rape, mutilation and murder of Angela Deskins, 38, and Shetisha Sheeley, 28. Shirellda Terry was his last victim before he was arrested July 19, 2013. It took the jury less than a day to decide his sentencing.
