Trevell Coleman, better known as G. Dep, is now speaking out about his sentencing for murdering a man 16 years ago.
The “Special Delivery” rapper was sentenced on May 8, 2012 and is serving 15 years to life in prison. ABC’s Deborah Roberts conducted a jailhouse interview with G. Dep who went into detail as he recounts the night he fatally robbed a stranger, confessing to the police in 2010, and exactly why he came forward as the gunman in the cold-case.
“I don’t feel like I’m cheating life too much anymore,” he said. “A lot of the burden is lifted, you know what I mean? And that was what I needed to do.”
Unbeknownst to his family members, the 39-year-old said he didn’t tell anyone of his actions because “I felt like I couldn’t really tell anybody. I didn’t want them to be involved.”
